Local Non-Profit Girls Rock Math, is doing some great camps this summer for girls.

Camp Registration

Registration for summer opens THIS SATURDAY, January 10, 2015.

Break Camps

Puppet Power – We will get geared up for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day with this fantastic camp all about designing and engineering puppets.  In this two-day camp, girls will learn how to build different kinds of moveable puppets by exploring design, linkages, and mechanic movement.  They will also use the engineering process to build their own puppet theater to draw the curtain on the last day of camp!

  • When: Monday and Tuesday, February 16 & 17, 9am-3pm
  • Who: Girls in Grades K-4
  • Where: Youngstown Cultural Arts Center

Miniature Math– Girls will create their own miniature world as they design tiny food, toys, and games for any 15-18 inch doll, such as those in the American Girl collection, or favorite stuffed animal.  In this design and craft math camp, the girls will play games and create art projects that help them explore ratio and proportion, measurement, money, and mental math skills.

  • When: April 13-17, 9am-3pm
  • Who: Girls in Grades K-3
  • Where: MLK Center

Upcoming Workshop

Dance, Movement & Math– Explore math through movement of your body! Beats, patterns, symmetry, shapes… all of these concepts and more can be explored creatively through our bodies. Girls will use math vocabulary and explore math concepts while dancing, moving to the music, and letting their imagination soar!

  • When:  Saturday, January 24, 10-11:30 am
  • Who: Girls in Grades K-2
  • Where: MLK Center 3201 E Republican St, Seattle, WA 98112
  • Cost: $40

MiddleSchool and High School Students- Get Involved!

Now is the time of year for our Middle School and High School age girls to apply for camp counselor positions.  We would also love helpers for our fundraising events as well as break camps!

Fundraiser Parties

Valentine’s Celebration– Join us for our Valentine’s I Love Math Celebration and scholarship fundraiser!  We’ll have games, crafts, treats and activities for the whole family!

  • When: 10 am-12 pm Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2015
  • Where:MLK Center 3201 E Republican St, Seattle, WA 98112
  • Suggested Donation: Anything your heart desires!

Pi Day Party

Join us for our Pi Day Party and scholarship fundraiser!  Bring a pi(e) for the pie making contest, or memorize digits of pi for the pi recitation contest, play games, make crafts and learn all about pi!

  • When: 3:30-5:30 pm, March 14, 2015
